The stone houses retain many character features, and are beautifully appointed and furnished. Unspoilt views over the surrounding countryside are spectacular. The area is quiet and peaceful, with a range of natural wildlife on the doorstep, yet within easy travel to the fabulous Northumberland beaches, variety of castles and market towns, and only a 25mins drive to the centre of Newcastle.

The houses are spacious, ideal for families, but are very popular too with couples and smaller groups.

The area is excellent for walking, cycling and riding (own horses welcome), and each house provides a large warm area for drying outdoor clothes and footwear. A selection of recommended routes, some literally starting from the doorstep, is available in the property.

The houses have been described as “home from home and more”, with personal attention to every detail. Double glazed with oil central heating throughout, the properties are warm and welcoming (charges included in the price, not additional).

Things to see and do

Set in the rolling Northumberland hillside, the farm’s cattle and sheep graze in surrounding fields. Deer, foxes, badgers, red squirrels and a wide range of birds can all be seen from the houses. The quiet country lanes link with footpaths and permissive access to give a range of walks/rides/cycle tracks, and the Simonside Hills (on the edge of the National Park) clearly visible from the houses offer a wider range of walks to suit all.

The coastline has a variety of beaches, from the sandy expanses of Druridge and Bamburgh, to the town of Seahouses with boat trips to view seals and puffins on the Farne islands, and the rock pools of Craster and Newton.

The county has hundreds of castles, stately homes including Cragside, gardens such as Alnwick with water games for the children as well the formal borders to admire, and a tree house restaurant. Craft centres to browse or participate in, market towns with local produce, music and cultural festivals. A donkey sanctuary, farms where children participate. All within a 20 min drive.

The city of Newcastle with famed architecture, the trendy quayside, the incredible Great North Museum linking into Hadrian’s Wall.
