About Northumberland

Northumberland can only be described as a county full of surprises. As England’s most northerly county, it has in the past, perhaps been over looked by many visitors, however this stunning county has a rich diverse and natural cultural heritage simply not found elsewhere in England.

Majestic castles rise from the stunning coastline, dominate the horizon and hint at a turbulent past, while the heather clad moor land, serene and remote provides a perfect setting for those county walks – far from the maddening crowd, yet close to the vibrant cultural hub of Newcastle upon Tyne famed for its seven bridges, the Baltic Art centre and the architectural stunning Sage building and popular music venue.

It is Northumberland’s cultural mix that perhaps makes it one of those places that once you have visited, you must return quite simply because there is so much to see and do and it is impossible to do it justice with just one visit.

From Hadrian’s Wall, to the stunning Alnwick Garden and Alnwick Castle to the fortified walls of Berwick upon Tweed the beautiful backdrop of Bamburgh castle, probably one of the most photographed castles in England, across to the Northumberland National Park and the Coquet and Till valleys, both famed for their salmon fishing and down to Tyne and Wear with its beautiful coastline, ports and into the city of Newcastle upon Tyne; this is a region that combines everything for a perfect holiday.

So why not take the time and experience the wonders of Northumberland.
